Which Class Is For Me?
If you are the kind of person who is ready for something other than
"power" yoga, who needs to set your own pace, and who wants
classes to support your health and spiritual growth, then YOGAworx
will help you. All classes offer postures, breathing, deep relaxation,
meditation, and holistic health. Come and let Barbara work with you
to find your own style.
YOGA BASICS - This is a great place to start yoga or come back to
review the fundamentals. Students are given an introduction to
postures, breathing, and relaxing.
ONGOING YOGA - All students of any level of experience are
welcome. Beginners will be given the guidance they need while
experienced students will be offered a more challenging practice.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED YOGA - This is for students who
have practiced the basics and want to deepen their knowledge of
the postures, philosophy, and science of yoga. This class includes
more pranayama (breathing techniques) as well as a more
stimulating yoga practice.
MEDITATION CLASS - Do you want to study more in depth
philosophy without the postures? Then join us for these classes in
breathing, relaxation, concentration, and guided meditation.
Discussion time and handouts will help you to develop your
personal practice. Topics include: how to prepare for meditation,
how to quiet the mind and emotions, and practical applications for
daily living.
Props and Protocol
- Classes start promptly. Please arrive early.
- A yoga mat is required so your feet can grip the floor. There
are good mats for sale in many stores.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing, bare feet. Layer your
clothing to be warm or cool as needed.
- Grab a strap or an unused necktie. This will help with some
postures (and you can tie it around your mat.)
- Practice on an empty stomach. A snack 2 hours before
class is okay.
- Please refrain from wearing perfume, chewing gum, and
please turn off your cell phone before class begins.
